The current online poker apps for NJ all do their best to mimic the desktop versions of NJ’s regulated online poker rooms. For the most part they succeed in this quite well, though the selection of available tables and tournaments is far more limited.

888 Poker; PokerStars; PartyPoker; Bet365 Poker; Americas Cardroom; Tiger Gaming; Pacific Poker; Titan Poker; Full Tilt Poker. The chat box could also use a bit of fine tuning. Regardless, for a real money poker app, World Series of Poker delivers what it claims to. Like 888 Poker, this app is not available in the AppStore or Google Play, but for a safe WSOP NJ download or WSOP NV download to your mac or PC, you can visit its website.

Playing on multiple tables simultaneously is now an option, but only on one poker application. The touch interface is perfectly useful for poker play, but if you intend to use any kind of chat options you will miss having a keyboard.

This page covers mobile poker apps. Get the rundown on NJ online casino mobile apps here. Check out NJ mobile sportsbook apps here.

Although all six apps allow for free money play, the only one that seems to get “fun” games off on a somewhat consistent basis is PokerStars. And even then, players will have much better luck finding a free play cash game than a tournament or sit & go.

As far as real-money games, No Limit Hold’em games are the bread and butter of all NJ online poker mobile apps. Other games are offered, but the selection is even sparser than it is on desktop clients.

PokerStars is the only app that offers Pot Limit Omaha games. Borgata/Party offers limit games but they rarely get off.

Other mixed games like Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud games do not appear to be fully integrated into NJ-based online poker apps.

Best mobile poker app for NJ players

Prior to PokerStars’ official launch in New Jersey, WSOP.com held a narrow edge over Borgata Poker for the state’s best online poker app. Now, it’s the PokerStars NJ app that wins out, by more than a little.

PokerStars has integrated its online casino and poker offerings into one comprehensive application, with poker taking center stage.

Not only does the app provide the most robust selection of account management features – which includes access to the cashier, VIP Store, and settings page – but the PokerStars NJ mobile app simply feels more polished than what the competition has to offer.

It’s also the only app that has integrated multi-tabling, non-hold’em variants and lottery sit & go’s. And thanks to the large lobby icons and sliders, finding a game of preference rarely takes more than a couple of swipes.

As for gameplay, PokerStars NJ comes closer than any other NJ operator to simulating the desktop experience on mobile. It also usually features the most traffic for non-guaranteed tournaments.

PokerStars is partnered with Resorts Casino in New Jersey.

WSOP poker app overview

Of all the poker apps this was probably the second most fun to play on, but mainly because WSOP/888 possesses inherent advantages in liquidity compared to Borgata/Party. This more than makes up for the missing features in the software, of which there are a few notables.

While mobile poker functions identically between 888 and WSOP, the WSOP app has the better tournament selection of the two (although this could vary from day to day). No complaints about the tournament lobby — it may not be the prettiest layout but it’s more than efficient.

On the other hand:

While the cash game and sit-and-go sliders work fine, it would have been nice if WSOP incorporated functionality that allowed players to see these lobbies. As is, players have to just hope a game of their preference is running.

This is a pretty severe oversight and may cause some players to run away in frustration.

888 Poker app overview

The nearly identical software that 888 Poker and WSOP use is a little less functional than the apps for Borgata and Party.

Rather than seeing the tables by name (and the number of people there) you have to just specify the type of game you are looking for with a number of sliding bars. This makes getting a good cash game tricky at times. Also, 888 and WSOP do not have any kind of fast-fold game options on mobile.

Though there is a wide range of Sit & Go options, you may have trouble finding one that is viable. As with the cash games, you must choose parameters and then hope there is someone else interested, and many of the sit-and-go tournaments that are more popular on the site don’t seem to be available on the app.

Regular multi-table tournaments, on the other hand, work perfectly and are excellent.

PartyPoker app overview

The app built for the mobile Party Poker room is the same program as Borgata. Since they share liquidity across the board, players will have a similar experience with both programs.

PartyPoker recently revamped its interface, and the result was a better user experience. Party’s app is solid, and we’d recommend that players who wrote it off when it was plagued by connection errors (especially on iOS) give it another go.

Be warned, however: Players who aren’t a fan of hold’em cash games or multi-table tournaments won’t find much to their liking. This is more a byproduct of the network’s low liquidity than the app itself.

If anything, the app supports a fair number of game formats, including fast-fold and fixed limit. Too bad its dedicated sub-menus and advanced filtering options are virtually wasted.

Borgata Poker app overview

As with the NJ online casinos, the choice between Borgata and Party will mostly come down to which rewards program you are already in.

At one point, registering for tournaments was unreliable, but it appears the operator has ironed out most of the kinks.

More good news: Borgata’s numerous daily freeroll tournaments now appear on the mobile tournament list. This will come as a pleasant surprise to those who may have disregarded the app when they couldn’t sign up for the freebies.

PokerStars App Overview

As solid as other New Jersey poker apps have become, the PokerStars NJ mobile offering still blows them out of the water. That’s not to say the app is a model of perfection, as server lag and unresponsiveness are still minor issues. But in terms of overall game selection, account management, design and aesthetics, PokerStars NJ wins out.

Currently, the app offers cash games (no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha), tournaments, sit-and-go’s and the widely popular (and mobile friendly) Spin & Go’s. Zoom Poker is listed in the app lobby, but games tend to only run when there is a “play [x] amount of cash game hands” promotion running.

The PokerStars’ app features a smart feature that recommends games to players based on their playing tendencies. Players can easily bypass these recommendations by clicking on the large icons and using the sliders and filters instead. We did find it a bit odd that players aren’t permitted to specify an exact buy-in for cash games, but otherwise, the ring game sliders fit the bill.

Tournament registration was a breeze. The app lists buy-in, prize pool, format and date info for multiple tournaments right from the main tournament page. All players have to do is find something they like and click “Register.” If the tournament lobby proves too cluttered (which is often the case during the evening) players can weed out tournaments via nine different filters.

Players can also register for and participate in freerolls from their mobile devices.

Pala Poker App Overview

Pala Poker’s mobile application is available for Android and iOS devices. The Apple version is available from the App Store, while the Android version can be accessed by following the download link on Pala’s website under the “download & play” page.

At around 80 megabytes, the iOS version is fairly bulky and takes a few moments to download, depending on internet connection speed. The Android version is around half that size.

Expect to wait between 10 and 20 seconds for the application to load, with the iOS version being slightly faster than the Android one.

Game offering is identical to what can be found on the desktop application: cash games include no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha, with stakes ranging from $0.10/$0.25 to $1/$2. Unfortunately, there are no micro or high-limit stakes. Six-handed SnG tournaments are available, with buy-ins from $5 to $20.

There are also a number of scheduled multi-table tournaments available on any given day, most with a guaranteed prize pool between $50 and $250 and buy-ins in the $0.50 to $10 range. A few freerolls are available, too. Almost all tournaments start at 4 p.m. or later.

Overall, the application is responsive, functional, and does not lag behind its desktop counterpart.

BetMGM NJ Poker is the online poker branch of Roar Digital, a company that was created as a joint venture of BetMGM Resorts and Entain (formerly GVC Holdings).

It operates on the partypoker US Network, which hosts two more brands owned by the same company, Borgata Poker NJ and partypoker NJ. Launched in 2017, it was one of the first online poker rooms in New Jersey.

The room shares the New Jersey market with other competitors, namely PokerStars NJ, WSOP NJ, and 888 NJ. However, BetMGM Poker has a decent position, because all three rooms on the partypoker network share liquidity, which ensures better player traffic.

On this page, we bring answers to some of the frequent questions about BetMGM Poker New Jersey, dealing with legality, deposits and withdrawals, bonuses, game selection and player traffic, and much more.

BetMGM: 100% legal, regulated online poker, sports and casino games in New Jersey!

Is BetMGM Poker legal in New Jersey?

BetMGM is fully licensed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to offer different types of online gambling services. The company’s NJ license covers casino, sports betting, and online poker, so players can play here with full confidence. BetMGM NJ Poker is completely legal and operates entirely in line with rules and regulations of the state.

Do I have to be physically present in New Jersey to play at BetMGM Poker?

One of the legal rules that is pretty much identical across all regulated US states is that players need to be physically present within the state where the operator is licensed if they want to play for real money.

In the future, when the operator goes live in Michigan and Pennsylvania, they will probably look for opportunities to merge player pools and create interstate compacts. For the time being, though, you do need to be physically present within New Jersey borders, and the room uses geolocation technology to ensure all players stick to this rule.

It is worth mentioning that New Jersey does have interstate compacts with Nevada and Delaware already. However, since BetMGM does not have a presence in these states, there are no player pools they could combine NJ players with.

What kind of a welcome bonus does BetMGM Poker NJ offer to new players?

Poker Apps Nj Opening

BetMGM Poker in New Jersey has a nice welcome package for all new players. First of all, there is a $25 no deposit bonus available to all new players who sign up and confirm their identity. Then, there is a 100% match bonus, awarding up to $1000 in bonus funds.

Free $25 on BetMGM NJ Poker

For the first part of the welcome bonus, all you need to do is register with the site and successfully go through the verification process. This will give you $25 worth of bonus funds, split between free cash ($10) and tournament tickets ($15).

The no deposit bonus is a nice way to see what the room has to offer, test the software, and see what you can expect from real money games. You will be able to withdraw winnings resulting from the no deposit bonus, but not before making at least one real money deposit with BetMGM Poker.

100% up to $1000 on First Deposit

The room offers a solid 100% bonus on the very first deposit, which will match the deposit in full up to the maximum of $1000. So, if you transfer $300, you will get $300 in your bonus account; if you deposit $1000, you max out the offer.

The welcome bonus is not issued all at once, though. Instead, it will release it in 10% increments every time you accumulate 20 times the value of the increment in iReward Points (iRPs). For example:

  • Deposit $300 and get a $300 bonus
  • The bonus is split into ten $30 increments
  • $30 is released into your real money account for every 600 iRPs collected

To maximize the bonus:

  • Deposit $1000 and get a $1000 bonus
  • The bonus is split into ten $100 increments
  • $100 is released into your real money account for every 2000 iRPs collected

Since you have to accumulate points to release bonus funds, once you release an increment, there are no further restrictions or wagering requirements to worry about. It is straight up cash that you can use to play with or withdraw.

What other promotions does BetMGM NJ Poker offer?

BetMGM NJ Poker features a variety of other promotions for all players to take part in. Of course, these change somewhat frequently, so the best way to stay informed is by regularly visiting the site or keeping an eye out for their promotional emails and messages.

For sit and go players, there are regular weekly leaderboards split into two sections (low and high). These give you a chance to win some extra cash based on the number of tournaments played throughout the week as well as your overall success (finishing positions).

What does BetMGM Poker New Jersey offer to cash game players?

The room features several popular poker variations across cash game tables, although you might struggle to find enough traffic for some of them. Currently supported variations are:

  • Texas Hold’em
  • Omaha
  • Omaha 8
  • Seven Card Stud
  • Seven Card Stud 8

There are six-max and full ring tables available, with stakes starting at $0.01/$0.02 and going up to $25/$50. You can sit at the lowest stake tables with as little as $0.60, which is good for those completely new to poker, looking to learn the ropes and figure things out while risking the minimum.

Can I play FastForward poker in New Jersey?

FastForward, which is partypoker’s variation of fast fold poker, is available at BetMGM NJ Poker. You can play up to four tables of FastForward at the same time, whether across the same level or playing at two or more different stakes.

As soon as you fold your hand, you will be moved to a new table and dealt into a new hand, increasing the number of hands you get to see per hour. You will still collect iRPs when playing on these tables just like when playing in regular games.

How good is the game selection for tournament players at BetMGM NJ Poker?

Sharing liquidity with two other rooms on the network, BetMGM NJ Poker is able to offer a decent schedule of daily and weekly tournaments. Players will find various events across all buy-ins, with some of the flagship tournaments being:

  • Daily $10K – compete for a share of at least $10,000 for the $109 buy-in
  • Mega Tuesday – a weekly $535 tournament with the $12,000 guarantee
  • Sunday $35K – a flagship BetMGM NJ Poker event, featuring the buy-in of $215

What deposit and withdrawal options does BetMGM New Jersey accept?

BetMGM NJ Poker features a solid selection of banking options that you can use to both fund your account and withdraw your poker winnings. In this particular aspect, they are even ahead of some other rooms in the state and in the US in general, as they have clearly done the work behind the scenes to make things as simple as possible for their players.

The minimum deposit at BetMGM NJ Poker is just $10, so you even beyond the no deposit bonus, you can test the room, play some games, and have some poker fun without breaking the bank.

What is the quality of the software like?

BetMGM’s poker platform was developed by GVC Holdings, i.e. partypoker. So, although BetMGM might be new to online poker, their partner is anything but. The software is quite decent overall, offering stability and reliability before all else.

The overall design could hardly be described as impressive, but it does the trick. The clean, no-nonsense look of the main lobby and the tables makes it very easy to find your way around the platform and play the game with no distractions.

You do get some nice customization options, such as the ability to create your own avatars, giving you the opportunity to make the platform more “personal.” The software also lets you take notes on other players in real time, which is quite useful.

Does BetMGM Poker NJ offer mobile apps for Android and iPhone?

You will find mobile apps for both Android and iOS phones and tablets. The BetMGM NJ Poker app for iPhone users is available on the App Store, while the Android version is made available for the download on the site.

To get started, visit the BetMGM site from your phone, find the download link, and follow instructions. It is a rather straightforward process, so you should have no problems with it.

Poker Apps Exposed

You can use the mobile app to play all the games available on the desktop platform. The company has done a very good job updating and improving the app over the years, doing away with some disconnection problems, freezing issues, etc.

Who is BetMGM’s land-based partner in New Jersey?

888 Poker Nj App

BetMGM’s online poker room operates through Borgata Hotel & Casino located in Atlantic City. If you ever want to use the cashier desk option to make a deposit with BetMGM Poker NJ, you can do it at Borgata. Just remember to bring with a photo ID.
